Tiësto in Seattle

Tiësto, one of my favorite DJs, was in town this past weekend. I have been listening to Tiësto for many years but this was the first time i have seen him live. The show was hosted at the WaMu Theater, situated within Qwest Field. It took me more than 40 minutes before i managed to find parking because Qwest Field was also the scene of a friendly football match between Brazil and Canada. The football match concluded just moment before the start of the Tiësto show.

I met Joyce and Fred at WaMu Theater. The first thing that we looked for was the bar. After going in and out of the theater several times and asking several people, we managed to find two bars. One was in the “VIP” area which meant we had absolutely no access to it. The second one was located outside the theater, in an enclosed and secured area. I am guessing the main reason for it being “locked down” was the organizer wanted to include kids, whose lips still have a faint smell of breast milk. The line at the second bar was impossibly long. There was actually another line just to get to the line for the bar. This was the first time where i have been to an event like this where the organizer seemed intend on preventing or making it extremely difficult for people to get liquored up. Needless to say, i was as stiff as a mummy throughout the evening. If you guys were there and you saw a tall Asian guy with shaved head on the dance floor that was as stiff as Oberto‘s beef jerky, that was me.

There were a lot of good-looking people at the party. However some people, especially some older men, really should not be seen topless in public. Nothing against older men since i am probably old enough to be the uncles of many party-goers there, but next to me on the dance floor was this group of topless older men, who were definitely high on something, touching and caressing each other. Had i known that “massage services” were provided during the event, i would have brought my own massage oil ;)

Several DJs, including America’s very own BT, opened the show for Tiësto. I had a very high expectation of Tiësto’s show prior to this event. May be because i was as sober as a judge, i felt that BT’s set preceding Tiësto’s was quite a bit more energetic and he was able to get the crowd going. Apparently, i am not the only one that feel Tiësto’s set was actually a bit boring and somewhat lifeless. BT played several well-known tracks, including crowd-pleasing favorites like “Love comes again” and “Break my fall”. I think Tiësto played several tracks from his soon-to-be-released “In Search of Sunrise 7: Asia”. The highlight of Tiësto’s set was his remixed of Samuel Barber‘s “Adagio for Strings”. I left as soon as Tiësto got done at around 0300.

speaking of the bar.. i have never seen a bar tender stand on the bar and yell at a crowd like this man did. “back the fuck up or the bar is closed!”

OH good times. thanks for throwing a shout out to my blog my man- Sounds like you had just as much fun as i did, and a little let down at the same time.

Oh well the other performs made up for it i guess.
