Some asshole at work did this

April 28th, 2008 by ktula

And he/she didn’t even bother to leave a note! That asshole probably didn’t realize that there is a surveillance camera pointing in the direction of the parking lot. It will be interesting to review the video footage from today.

Spot shrimps at Ho Ho

April 23rd, 2008 by ktula

Ever since we discovered that Ho Ho seafood restaurant in Seattle serves live Spot shrimps, Smelly and i have been going there several times the past two months. The last time we went there prior to Smelly’s trip to Europe, the hostess working there suggested eating the Spot shrimps sashimi-style, with the heads of the shrimps deep-fried and then stir-fried in hot pepper and salt.

Last night, Smelly and i did what the hostess suggested.

Not long after we placed the order, a waitress brought a serving plate with headless Spot shrimps. When i was busy taking a picture of the shrimps with my iPhone, one of the shrimps jumped out of the plate, onto the table. One of the shrimps even wiggled in Smelly’s mouth as she was about the eat it, freaking her out. You can’t get them any fresher than that!

Each of us was given a sauce dish with a mount full of rather bland Wasabi, or fake Wasabi. After dipping the first few shrimps in the sauce dish, i decided to try them just as they were. That was the right decision. The Spot shrimps tasted sweet, without any of those over-powering smell of frozen shrimps. Peeling the shells off the shrimps was not easy but i didn’t mind doing some work in getting to the tasty flesh.

The waitress then brought us a plate full of the heads of Spot shrimps, deep-fried and then stir-fried in hot pepper, garlic and salt. It was delicious!

Mariners lost again

April 23rd, 2008 by ktula

I got a pair of free Mariners tickets courtesy of my sister. Since Smelly had to go to a class tonight, i went to the ball game with Jason. This is the second visit to the Mariners’ game in just as many weeks, and unfortunately, just like the first game i went last week, the Mariners lost again. Am i bringing bad luck to the Mariners? I am going to give it another shot. If the Mariners lose again in the next game that i am attending, i will not go to another Mariners’ game for the remainder of the season!

My first Mariners game at Safeco Field

April 14th, 2008 by ktula

I have been a big Seattle Mariners fan since 1995, when the Mariners went to post season for the first time. This afternoon at work, a co-worker of mine asked if anyone wanted a pair of Mariners tickets for tonight’s game against the Kansas City Royals. Since i only wanted a ticket, i let another co-worker of mine have the other one.

Going to Safeco Field was extremely easy. I took metro bus 22 right in front of the condominium and that took me directly to Safeco Field.

When i checked the starting pitcher for the Royals prior to leaving for the game, i knew it was going to be a tough game. Two-game winner Zack Greinke had an ERA of only 0.60 coming into tonight’s game. Turned out i was right. The Mariners only managed 5 hits against Greinke. Mariners starting pitcher Jarrod Washburn gave up two home runs and 3 runs in about 6 innings of work. His replacement Sean Green was completely ineffective. Sean Green left the bases loaded without an out, needing the help of Ryan Rowland-Smith to bail him out. Greinke had a complete game, beating the Mariners 5 - 1.

The game time temperature was around 40s and it was very damped and cold as it had been raining almost all day. Good thing i brought a blanket with me. The game lasted about two and a half hours. I had to take three buses home. The first one was the shuttle bus that took me from Safeco Field to 1st Ave and Spokane St. After waiting for about 10 minutes, i got on bus #21, taking me to 35th Ave SW and Avalon Way SW. When i arrived there, i thought i had just missed the connecting bus #54. Fortunately, the bus was late and i got home without having to wait another 30 minutes for the next bus.
