Mac OS X Unix FS limitation

The maximum file size allowed for the Unix File System (UFS) in Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.5 is 4 GB.

I found out about this limitation when i kept getting “Error code -1309″ in trying to transfer some large files (more than 4 GB) to my external firewire drive which was formatted in Unix FS.
At the Apple Developer Connection site for Mac OS X, there is a comparison between HFS plus and UFS, but i do not see any mention of this 4-GB limitation. It would be nice to know this limitation before i wiped out everything on my external drive prior to converting it to UFS.
